Photos from Shark Valley and the first sunrise of 2011 have been added

Happy 2011 everyone! Hope everyone’s year has started on the right foot. With one of my goals for 2011 being to shoot more, Barb and I started the New Year the best way possible- by going to Dania Beach to capture the first sunrise of 2011. It was great to wake up at 6am to shoot with someone who’s equally obsessed with photography as myself. First Sunrise of 2011.

For the last month, Barb and I have been talking about going to the Valujet 592 memorial and Shark Valley (Everglades National Park) in Miami. At 8am we were shooting the memorial of flight 592. It’s strange, there’s a lot that I see on the news and don’t remember, but this disaster happened 15 years ago and I clearly remember watching Rick Sanchez covering the story.

We then drove to Shark Valley where we thought it would be a great idea to walk the 15-mile trail….bad idea!

For it being a 15-mile trail, we didn’t shoot as much as one would expect- but we had a great time. After our 79,200-foot journey came to an end, we both agreed that we will never walk Shark Valley again……we’ll ride bikes! We were the ONLY morons who walked the whole trail. Yesterday’s photos can be seen in the South Florida Gallery.

By the end of the month, I should have some exciting news to share. I’m not going to give it away, but I’ll post more details when the piece is PUBLISHED :).
